Sunday Morning Thought

"If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell." ~ Matt 5:29-30

Shouldn't we eradicate all things in our lives which cause us to stumble? If something is separating us from the peace of God shouldn't we ourselves separate from it? I think there is a fine line between fighting a battle which makes us stronger in the Lord teaching us maturity, and fighting a battle which we were not called to fight. In such cases, we find only frustration because we have diverged from the path God intended for us.

It takes courage to fight some of life's battles. In some cases, it takes even more courage to stop fighting. To let God have his way in your life and to cut off those addictive desires like fighting your own battles. Sometimes, you are called to simply let go of what you are holding onto.

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it
~I Corinthians 10:13~

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
 ~ Hebrews 12:1-3~
